University of Washington Educational Outreach เป็นหนึ่งในหลักสูตรภาษาอังกฤษเข้มข้นที่มีชื่อเสียงที่สุดในของโลก ที่ตั้งอยู่ใน University of Washington หรือ ชื่อเล่นเรียกว่ายูดับ (ยูดับบลิว)

นักเรียนที่ผ่านมาและเลือกไปกับทอร์ช เอ็ดดูเคชั่น ส่วนใหญ่เข้าเรียนปริญญาโทได้เกือบทุกคน เข้าเรียนแล้วมีการพัฒนาและยกระดับศักยภาพด้านภาษาสูงขึ้นอย่างต่อเนื่อง มีการไล่ระดับตั้งแต่
ภาษาอังกฤษระดับเริ่มต้นไปจนถึงภาษาอังกฤษระดับสูง โดยครอบคลุมไปถึงการอ่าน การเขียน การพูด และการฟัง

(beginning to advanced) การเรียนจะครอบคลุมทุกทักษะพื้นฐาน reading, writing, and listening and speaking ตลอดจน elective courses เช่น Public Speaking, TOEFL/IELTS Preparation, Academic Writing เป็นต้น ที่สำคัญตั้งแต่

ระดับ Level 4 นักเรียจะได้เรียนในหลักสูตรAcademic Preparation ที่ถูกออกแบบเพื่อเตรียมพร้อมเรียนต่อในระดับมหาวิทยาลัยและทักษะความพร้อม ในการทำงานระดับนานาชาติ ที่สำคัญตั้งแต่ระดับ Level 4 นักเรียจะได้เรียนในหลักสูตรAcademic Preparation ที่ถูกออกแบบเพื่อเตรียมพร้อมเรียนต่อในระดับมหาวิทยาลัยและทักษะความพร้อม ในการทำงานระดับนานาชาติ

หลักสูตร :Campus Intensive English Program (CIEP), Marketing for International Professionals (MIP), Intensive Business English Program (IBEP), Bothell English Program, and Fundamentals of Project Management (FPM)

สำหรับ CIEP แบ่งออกเป็น ๔ ระดับ ไล่ตั้งแต่ภาษาอังกฤษระดับเริ่มต้นไปจนถึงภาษาอังกฤษระดับสูง โดยครอบคลุมไปถึงการอ่าน การเขียน การพูด และการฟัง นอกจากนี้ยังมีวิชาเลือกให้ได้เรียนตามอัธยาศัยอีกด้วย ทั้งนี้วิชาเลือกจะเปิดให้สำหรับผู้เรียนระดับสูงเท่านั้น

The University Track of the UW Intensive English Program (IEP) is intended for students who plan to pursue undergraduate or graduate degrees in the United States. Students will improve their English speaking, listening, reading and writing skills and also learn strategies for improving their TOEFL or IELTS scores.

Program Features

• Five levels of instruction
• Small class sizes, with about 14 students per class
• Experienced instructors with advanced degrees in teaching English as a second language
• Opportunity to take one UW undergraduate course (level 5 students only)
• Help with completing applications for college or university degree programs, including those with our partner universities (details below)

Program Structure

The University Track of the Intensive English Program consists of five levels, divided into a Lower Division (Levels 1–4) and an Upper Division (Level 5). Students are given a test at the beginning of the program for placement in the correct level. Level 1 courses meet at the UW downtown Seattle location, and Levels 2 – 5 are offered on the main UW Seattle campus.

Successful completion of the University Track requires eight hours of Upper Division course work, including six hours of academic preparation courses. These courses usually take two quarters to complete.

Students who have completed an undergraduate degree and who are applying to a graduate or professional program may be eligible for the accelerated University Track. To be eligible, students must have an undergraduate degree and a TOEFL iBT of 84-91 or an IELTS of 6.5. In this accelerated format, students complete the Upper Division of the University Track in just one quarter instead of two by taking five hours of academic preparation courses. The University Track of the UW Intensive English Program (IEP) is for students who plan to earn undergraduate or graduate degrees in the United States. Students will improve their English speaking, listening, reading and writing skills and also learn strategies for improving their TOEFL or IELTS scores.

• Experienced instructors with advanced degrees in teaching English as a second language
• Chance to receive conditional admission offers from several of our partner universities
• Help with university applications, including those with our partner universities

Program Structure

The University Track of the Intensive English Program has five levels. Students take a test at the beginning of the program to be placed in the correct level. Level 1 and 2 courses meet at the UW downtown Seattle location and Levels 3–5 meet on the main UW Seattle campus.

• In Level 4, students take Academic Reading & Writing 4 and Listening & Speaking 4
• In Level 5, students begin with the Foundation Quarter and may complete the program with the Capstone Quarter

University Track Foundation Quarter: This satisfies the English language proficiency requirement at some of our partner universities. To be eligible, students must complete Level 4.

Courses in this quarter:

• Academic Reading & Writing 5
• Academic Listening & Speaking 5
• One additional upper-division course

University Track Capstone Quarter: This satisfies the English language proficiency requirement at the UW Graduate School and at Seattle University. To be eligible, students must complete the Foundation Quarter

Courses in this quarter:

• Applied Academic Skills
• Academic Listening & Writing 5
• Academic Presentation Skills (formerly Academic Reading & Speaking 5)
• One upper-division elective course

Accelerated University Track: This satisfies the English language proficiency requirement at all of our partner universities. To be eligible, students must have an undergraduate degree and a TOEFL iBT score of 84–91 or an IELTS score of 6.5.

• Academic Presentation Skills (formerly Academic Listening & Speaking 5)
• Applied Academic Skills
• Academic Listening & Writing 5 or Academic Reading & Speaking 5

Students who enroll in the IEP University Track can receive conditional admission offers (undergraduate only) from the following top universities:

Students interested in receiving conditional admission may request a conditional admission letter when applying to the IEP University Track, or by meeting with one of our academic advisors. Our advisors are happy to help you understand admission requirements and assist you with the application process.

Note: At this time, there is no agreement between IEP and the UW Seattle undergraduate admissions office regarding English language proficiency. Undergraduate students seeking admission to UW Seattle must submit TOEFL or IELTS scores that meet the minimum English proficiency requirements.

Torch Tip: เป็นที่เรียนที่มีพื้นที่บรรยากาศของมหาวิทยาลัยที่สวยที่สุด และทุกฤดูกาลจะสวยแตกต่างกันออกไป เป็นสถานที่เรียนที่เหมาะแก่การเรียน และพัฒนาภาษาในช่วงเวลาสั้นและได้ภาษาไว และมีจำนวนคนไทยน้อยมาก ตัวเมือง seattle มีความสมบูรณ์พร้อมในระบบการศึกษาที่เป็นเลิศ และระบบขนส่งในการเดินทางสะดวก

นักเรียนเราส่วนใหญ่ลงกัน 3-4 เทอม และจำไว้ว่า ทางยูดับ ให้มีการหยุดพักได้หนึ่งเทอม หรือถ้าลงเรียนถึงระดับสูงสุดแล้ว ในเทอมถัดไปจะลงเรียนเป็นรายวิชาก็ได้ แต่อย่างน้อยๆต้องลง 2 วิชา ที่โดดเด่นที่สุดคือในระดับ Advacned จะบังคับให้นักเรียนไป sit in วิชาปริญญาตรีที่มีการกำหนดวิชาไว้ให้ เพื่อเข้าใจถึงการเรียนในระดับมหาวิทยาลัยได้จริง

Q: อยากเล่าและแชร์ เปรียบเทียบว่าหลักสูตร IBEP vs. MIP ว่าเรียนยังไง คนสอน เพื่อนร่วมคลาส การบ้าน

A: หลักสูตร IBEP เป็นหลักสูตรที่ต่อจาก level 5 ของนักเรียนที่เรียนที่ภาษาทั่วๆไป ใน campus นักเรียนจะเรียนผ่านขึ้น  level มา หรือจะใช้คะแนนยื่นเพื่อเข้ามาเรียนก็ได้ค่ะ โดยใช้คะแนน toeic, ielts, toefl  

Intensive Business English Program (IBEP) Work on your speaking, listening and written English skills while studying a selected business topic area.

IBEP  จะมีให้เลือกเรียนทั้งหมด 3 majors ซึ่งจะเปิดให้ลงได้ตามแต่ละ quarter (marketing, entrepreneur and global trade) ของแพรลงเรียนเป็นด้าน marketing ค่ะ เรียน จันทร์- พฤหัส ตั้งแต่ 9:30-15:30 จะมี 2 คลาส คือ

• คลาสภาษาอังกฤษเชิงธุรกิจ อาจารย์ก็จะสอนคำศัพท์ อ่าน case study ตอบคำถามทำแบบฝึกหัดต่างๆ discussion เกี่ยวกับ case study ซึ่งเป็นเรื่องที่เกี่ยวข้องกับ Business and Marketing และก็จะมีการบ้านให้อ่าน case study ทุกๆวัน และมี project ให้เขียน marketing plan ฉบับย่อๆ รวมทั้งมี presentation ประมาณ 3 ครั้ง
  
• คลาส communication (เรียนวันอังคาร และพฤหัสช่วงบ่าย) สอนเรื่องการเขียนจดหมาย, email และ โทรศัพท์ ก็จะสอนว่าการเขียนจดหมาย ตอบ e-mail ภาษาที่ถูกต้องตามหลักการใช้ต้องเป็นอย่างไร format ต่างๆ คลาส IBEP จะมีให้สอบ TOEIC ฟรีทั้งหมด 2 ครั้ง (ก่อนเริ่มเรียน ibep และหลังจากจบ) แต่คะแนนที่ได้จะไม่ใช่แบบ official เพราะทาง UW จัดสอบเอง

งานอดิเรก ชอบดูหนัง ฟังเพลง ทำกิจกรรมหลายๆ อย่าง จะได้ไม่เบื่อ

2. ปัจจุบันกำลังทำอะไรอยู่คะ

เป็นวิศวกรควบคุมคุณภาพหลังการขาย (Quality Assurance)
ของบริษัท Toyota Motor (Thailand).Co.,Ltd.

อาจจะงงกันว่า วิศวกรสายงานนี้ ทำอะไรบ้าง อธิบายในภาพที่ง่ายที่สุดเลย คือเมื่อลูกค้าซื้อรถยนต์
>>  ใช้รถยนต์
>>  กรณี รถที่ใช้งานทั่วไปได้เกิดปัญหาขึ้น (พบความไม่ปกติในการใช้งาน)
>>  วิศวกร QA นี่แหล่ะครับ จะทำหน้าที่ออกไปวิเคราะห์ปัญหาหน้างานฃ
>>  หาคำตอบว่าเกิดเพราะเหตุใด ใครเป็นต้นเหตุให้เกิด ซึ่งเราต้องสืบหาหลักฐานจากศพ
( หรือ รถยนต์นั่นเอง เอ๊ะ! ทำไปทำมาก็คิดว่าตัวเอง คล้ายนักสืบโคนัน เหมือนกันนะ ฮ่าฮ่า )
>>  หากต้นเหตุเป็นเรื่องคุณภาพ ก็จะ feedback ให้ทางโรงงานผลิต หรือ Supplier (ที่เราซื้อ Part เขามาใส่ในรถของเรา)
ทำการปรับปรุง แก้ไขและพัฒนา เป็นการป้องกันเพื่อไม่ให้เกิดขึ้นซ้ำอีก นั่นเองครับ
