วันนี้ทาง Torch Education ได้นำตัวอย่าง Statement of Purpose ของ K.Mink ที่ได้ใช้สมัครเพื่อเข้าเรียน Certificate in Marketing ในปีที่ผ่านมา เพื่อเป็นแนวทางให้น้องๆที่สนใจไปเรียนที่ University of California at Irvine ซึ่งหลักสูตรนี้ยังคงใช้ TOEIC 685 แทน IELTS 6.0 ได้แล้วนะครับ เมื่อสำเร็จการศึกษาสามารถเลือก Internship ฝึกงานกับบริษัทชั้นนำที่อเมริกาได้จริง หรือ หากลงเรียนจนครบ 3 เทอมก็ยังคงสามารถเลือกฝึกงานเต็ม 1 ปีในรูปแบบ OPT ได้

1. Describe your education. Include any college experience, degrees, and majors.
I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English from Khon Kaen University which is one of the best universities in Thailand. I chose to study English because I think English is very important and useful in real life. I have learned many things from there, especially understanding and using English correctly in various situations including report news, job interview, seminar, and research report writing. I also participated in the English teaching camp for students in rural areas. I taught English vocabularies and songs, prepared meals, and painted classrooms. It was one of the best experiences of my life.

2. Describe your work experience. Include any volunteer, internship, and/or paid jobs you have had.
As I was a gamer when I was a student. I dream to work in the game industry because I believed doing the job of what I love, I would do great and happy with it. So after I graduated, I applied for a job at Garena Online (Thailand) Co., Ltd as a Mobile Game Online Community Associate. 

Garena; with headquarter is in Singapore, is the number one online game publishing company in Thailand with the recognition of eSports. My duties are manage official game pages/Facebook pages, lead game review and discussions on SNS, plan and organize game campaigns on SNS, and game operations support. I really love my job and I am very happy when I saw people playing the game that I responsible for in café, shopping mall or sidewalk.

3. Describe why you are interested in the certificate program(s) you have selected.
I interested in ACP Digital Marketing because I realized that technology is growing fast and changing the traditional marketing methods. As a social network, email, and website are connecting with our daily life. So doing digital marketing is a new thing and easiest way to access customers. I want to learn about this and I believe UCI will educate and guide me to reach the next step of my future career.

4. Describe your future career plans and how the certificated(s) will help you achieve these plans.
After I finish the certificate, I will go back to Thailand and seek a suitable job for me to earn more experience with Digital Marketing. I believe that Digital Marketing is very important in any business right now. I will use the knowledge that I gain from UCI to help me create my own campaign and it’s going to succeed for sure.

A : ชื่อ เนว์ คะ เนว์จบโทIR จาก University of Sussex ที่เมือง Brighton ประเทศอังกฤษคะ เนื่องจากตอนแรกตั้งใจว่าอยากทำงานทางด้านการทูต เลยไปเรียนต่อด้านนี้มา แต่พอจบกลับมาก็ค้นพบตัวเองว่าจริงๆแล้วเราอยากทำงานด้านธุรกิจซึ่งตรงกันข้ามกับที่จบมา เลยเข้าทำงานสาย business development และ marketing คะ จึงเริ่มมองหาคอร์สเกี่ยวกับ Marketing ที่สั้นและหลักสูตรเข้มข้น ซึ่งก็ได้คำแนะนำที่ดีมากจากพี่ภูริตคะ

Q : แล้วทำไมถึงตัดสินใจเรียน ACP marketing @UCI เพราะอะไร
A : เพราะเป็นคอร์สเรียนระยะสั้น 3 เดือน ที่เข้มข้น และ UCI ก็เป็นมหาลัย top หลักสูตรที่เรียนก็ดูน่าสนุก

Q : มองการไปเรียน certificate มันจะส่งเสริมการเงินได้จริงหรอ
A : การที่เราได้ความรู้และประสบการณ์จากการไปเรียนที่ต่างประเทศ ทำให้เราสามารถยื่นสมัครงานในตำแหน่งที่สูงขึ้นและฐานเงินเดือนที่สูงขึ้นได้ แต่เราก็ต้องตั้งใจเรียนและทำให้ดีที่สุด

Q : อยากให้เล่าถึงประสบการณ์ในการขอวีซ่า เตรียมตัวขนาดไหน เครียดมากมั้ยโดยเฉพาะเรื่องที่กังวล คิดมากตรงประเด็นไหนและทำไงสถานการณ์เปลี่ยนเยอะมากสถานทูตจะเชื่อว่าเราไปเรียน      จริงๆ
A : ในตอนแรกกังวลมากเพราะเนื่องจากมีวีซ่าท่องเที่ยว และเรียบจบโทที่อังกฤษมาแล้ว เลยกลัวว่าจะทำให้การขอวีซ่านั้นยากขึ้นไปอีก แต่ได้คำแนะนำในการเตรียมตัวที่ดีมากจากพี่ภูริต พี่ภูริตให้ฝึกเขียนว่าเราจะตอบคำถามยังไงโดยมีคำถามหลายแบบมาให้ฝึก และยังมีพี่เก้ช่วยติวสัมภาษณ์ให้ เราเลยรู้สึกมั่นใจมากขึ้นคะ ในวันสัมภาษณ์เลยรู้สึกชิวๆคะ เจ้าหน้าที่พูดว่า

Q: แล้วทำไมถึงตัดสินใจเรียน certificate in @ UCI ในมุมมองของน้องเลือกเพราะอะไร (ทั้งๆที่มีหลายสถาบันไม่ว่าจะเป็น เอกชน หรือ ของมหาวิทยาลัย อีกทั้งหลายประเทศที่เราก็เลือกไปเรียนได้  )

Nut @UC Irvine :ก่อนหน้านี้หาข้อมูลหลายที่มากคะ แต่ส่วนใหญ่ก็จะเป็นคอร์ส  certificate ในอเมริกาทั้งหมด นัทสนใจอยู่หลายที่จนมาปรึกษาพี่ภูริศ ก็รู้สึกว่า UCI นี่แหละ ตอบโจทย์มากที่สุด ทั้งเรื่องสิ่งแวดล้อมของมหาลัย ที่อยู่อาศัย สภาพแวดล้อม วัฒนธรรม อาจารย์ รวมถึงกิจกรรมต่างๆที่หาซื้อไม่ได้จากที่อื่น และที่  UCI ไม่ค่อยมีนักเรียนไทยมากเท่าไหร่ด้วยคะ น่าจะเป็นโอกาสดีที่จะได้เรียนรู้ และใช้ภาษาได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพสูงสุด

Q : มองการไปเรียน Cert เพราะอะไร แล้วไปนานแค่ไหน มีผลหรอไปสั้นๆ 6 เดือน ในอนาคตแค่ไหนเชื่อมั่นประสบการณ์ต่างประเทศอย่างอเมริกาแค่ไหน
: จริงๆที่เรียน certificate ในอเมริกา เพราะต้องการพัฒนา และต่อยอดความรู้จากการเรียนตอน ป. โทที่ไทยคะ จากที่ดูจากเนื้อหาวิชาที่สอน คิดว่าเนื้อหา และ case study ต่างๆน่าสนใจ และจะช่วยพัฒนาทักษะความสามารถในการวิเคราะห์ ตีความกฎหมายธุรกิจและการค้าได้ดีขึ้นแน่นอน

พี่เค้าก็โหดให้สมจริงมาก  เราเลยได้ซ้อมจริงจังหลายรอบคะ จนรู้สึกมั่นใจ และตอบจนสามารถพูดออกมากได้โดยไม่ต้องคิดอะไรมาก ซึ่งจริงๆเคล็ดลับน่าจะอยู่ที่ความจริงใจ และความจริงของข้อมูลของเรานะคะ ตอบตามความเป็นจริง จะทำให้เราสามารถเอาตัวรอด หากเจ้าหน้าที่ถามคำถามเพิ่มเติมนอกจากที่เราซ้อมมาได้คะ

คำถามที่เจอจริงๆ ตอนสัมภาษณ์  (ซึ่งโชคดีมาก เจอเจ้าหน้าที่ใจดีสุดๆ คะ)

• ถามเรื่องรัฐที่จะไป และคอร์สที่เราเรียน และถามว่าทำไมถึงเรียนอีก เพราะเห็นจบโทแล้ว เลยบอกว่า “however i graduated the master degree about trade law, it was not enough for apply in my job. This certificate will help me develop skills especially in decision making and interpretation skills on business law”
• มีถามเรื่อง who pay for your trip?
  ตอบไปว่า i sponsor myself but my dad is my sponsorship as well.
• และถามต่อเรื่อง What about your plan after finish this course?

ตอบว่า  I intend to apply for a job in treasury or compliance sector in an international bank and after that, i will seek some position in Bank of Thailand. And my last plan is helping my family’s business to expand the branch both in the hotel and coffee shop business to another province.
ตอบแบบเจ้าหน้าที่ยิ้มกว้างๆ แล้วบอกว่า you have long plans here, that’s very good.
หลังจากนั้น ก็บอกว่า your visa will send back in 1 week, …… ฟินคะ ตอบไปเสียงดังๆว่า thank you very much ka.
