Description
Classes focus on the fundamental skills involved in reading, writing, listening to and speaking English. Through class activities students practice simple conversations, basic listening skills, pronunciation, reading comprehension and strategies, vocabulary development and writing complete sentences and paragraphs.

Oral Communication, Reading, Written Communication, Conversation Workshop

By the end of Level 1 you should be able to:

• Participate in simple conversations
• Give an informal presentation
• Narrate a story and describe a picture
• Write a paragraph
• Read paragraphs and short texts

Description
Classes focus on interpersonal communication skills in an informal setting. Students develop their reading skills to improve comprehension while building their vocabulary. They write paragraphs incorporating grammatical concepts taught in class.

Oral Communication, Reading, Written Communication, Conversation or Reading Workshop

By the end of Level 2 you should be able to:

• Participate in conversations
• Give an informal presentation
• Narrate a story, describe a simple process and offer reasons
• Take notes from a simple lecture
• Write a well-developed paragraph
• Restate simple sentences
• Read longer, more complex texts
• Use an ESL dictionary

Description
Classes focus on interpersonal communication and academic skills. Students read more complex selections and write simple essays. They also take part in more in-depth conversations.

• Participate in group discussions
• Give informal presentations
• Describe characteristics, compare and contrast two or more items, and discuss advantages and disadvantages

• Read longer, more complex texts
• Read an adapted book in English
• Use an ESL dictionary

Description
Classes focus on improving communication skills in general, as well as preparing students for academic classes. Students read and listen to a variety of authentic materials and participate in more complex listening and speaking activities.

• Lead and participate in group discussions
• Give informal and formal presentations
• Take notes from a simplified lecture
• Write a multi-paragraph essay
• Describe a problem and offer solutions and discuss causes and effects
• Summarize and paraphrase from a reading
• Read and evaluate articles
• Read a book in English with the class
• Use a college-level dictionary

Description
The academic focus of this course enables students to use their English language skills at a complex and in-depth level such as is found in the university setting. The overall goal is to prepare students to handle a regular academic course load.

• Give a formal, academic presentation
• Discuss causes and effects and argue/support an opinion
• Take notes from an academic lecture

• Paraphrase, summarize, quote and cite from readings
• Read academic texts and articles
• Read a book in English independently
• Use a college-level dictionary

ตัวอย่างตารางเรียน

On Mondays through Thursdays, IEP classes meet in the morning and afternoon.
On Fridays, IEP classes meet in the morning only. Classtimes vary depending on your level and section.

Students in Levels 1-3 are in class 23 hours of class a week.

Students in Levels 4-5 attend 20 hours of class a week.
